Fabiola P. (Demers) Cardoza, age 96, lifelong resident of Taunton, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at her home in East Taunton, surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of her family. She was the caring and devoted wife for over 70 years to the late David J. Cardoza, who passed away on October 10, 2024.
Born in Taunton, she was one of seven children born to the late Armand and Georgianna (Stearns) Demers. She was raised and grew up in Taunton.
In her younger years, Fabiola was employed at the Ansonia Mill in East Taunton. After starting her family, she had the ever so important job of being a Homemaker, providing a safe and comfortable home environment for all. As her kids grew older, Fabiola missed working and decided to return to where it all started, at Synthetic Yarns.
She was a longtime parishioner at Holy Family Church in East Taunton, where she was also a 40 year member of the Holy Family Women’s Guild.
In her spare time, Fabiola had a variety of hobbies and interests. She was a member of many bowling leagues in the area and she was a familiar sight at the lanes at Roseland Bowling Alley. After Roseland closed, she and her sister joined a woman only bowling league at Cape Way Bowling Alley. Together with her husband, Fabiola spent time vacationing on cruises and in their younger years they would go out dancing on the weekends, along with trips together to Foxwoods Casino. Above all, she cherished the time spent and memories made with his family.
Fabiola is survived by her proud sons: Richard Cardoza and his wife Robin and David R. Cardoza; her grandchildren: Eric & Michael Cardoza, Shannon & Sean Geer, and Rebecca Tichelaar; her 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; her brother: Henry Demers; her daughter-in-law: Lynne Tichelaar; her son-in-law: Edward Geer; and also many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Fabiola is preceded in passing by cherished children: Ronald Cardoza and Cheryl Geer; and also her brothers: Armand, Freddie, and Bobby; and her sisters: Florence and Theresa.
Fabiola’s funeral with visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 10:00am with a Funeral Service to begin at 11am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.
