Francis H. Rose, age 99 of North Dighton, a proud Navy Veteran of WWII, passed away on June 4, 2023 at Marian Manor.
He was the beloved husband of the late Helen E. (Coelho) Rose.
Francis was born in Taunton, the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Rose) Rose.
Francis served his country with the Navy as a Boatswain’s Mate during WWII from 1942- 1946 awarded with WWII Victory Medal, American Area Medal, Asiatic Pacific Philippine Liberation (Two Stars) and the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Rose was a former Deputy Fire Chief of the Dighton Fire Dept. He was also a maintenance worker for many years at the Segregansett Country Club in Taunton.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, clam boils, Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, sitting in the sun, and his many years spent mowing the ruff at Segregansett Country Club.
Mr. Rose is survived by a son, Michael Rose and his wife Debi of North Dighton, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and his daughter in law Virginia Rose. Francis was also the father of the late Jeffrey and Gary Rose and brother of the late Edwin, John and James David Rose, Mary Terra and the late Evelyn Terry.
Mr. Rose’s funeral will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Nicholas of Myra Church Spring Street, North Dighton.
Interment with military honors will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday June 7th from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
