Of Taunton, MA and Cocoa Beach, FL - Francis J. Leca, 75, died on October 22nd at his Florida home after a 15 month battle with cancer. He was the husband of Margaret (Pitas) Leca. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past May.
Born and raised in Taunton, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Helen (Medeiros) Leca.
A 1955 graduate of Taunton High school, he later served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
In his early years, he worked with his father, making deliveries on "the bread truck" as it was known, before operating the Sunshine Orange Juice Co. Later, he worked for the Goodyear Tire Co. and Leca's Café, both in Taunton, and subsequently owned and operated D & S Motors, also in Taunton, for nearly 40 years before retiring.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, he was a 53 year member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 150, both in Taunton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves 2 daughters, Donna Audette and her husband Richard of Middleboro, and Shera Anderson and her husband Mark of Raynham; 2 sons, Jay Leca of Brownsville, CA, and Scott Leca and his wife Lisa of Palm Bay, FL; 8 grandchildren, Craig Audette of Long Island, NY, Wayne Audette and his wife Laura of Sharon, Kyle, Bryan and Neal Anderson, all of Raynham, Becky-Ann, Jennifer and Stephanie Leca, all of Palm Bay, FL; a sister, Evelyn Enos of Taunton; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Tuesday, Oct. 28th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church, Taunton at 9 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be on Monday, Oct. 27th from 4-8 p.m.
