TAUNTON - Frank A. Monteiro, Sr., a longtime Taunton resident, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on May 11, 2011.
He was 86.
Born in East Boston, he was the son of the late Theodore and Rosie (Andrade) Monteiro.
Raised and educated in East Boston, he later moved to the Taunton area.
He also resided in Attleboro for several years.
Mr. Monteiro served with the Merchant Marines during WW II, and later worked in the silver industry in Taunton.
He enjoyed working as a respite care provider for many years, and being a courier for a local grocery store chain.
Mr. Monteiro enjoyed sports and was an avid Red Sox fan.
He was a member of the Taunton Cape Verdean Association, and Moose Lodge 463 of Attleboro.
Survivors include two sons, Frank A. Monteiro, Jr. and his wife Michele of Taunton, and Christopher Lomba and his wife Marika of Revere; a daughter, Christine Santos of FL; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Richard and Robert Monteiro.
Graveside Services will be held at the MA National VA Cemetery, Bourne on Friday, May 20th at 11:30 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Arrangements are by the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway Taunton.
