Gail E. (Unger) McElroy, age 82, of Raynham, passed away at home on Friday, January 24, 2025, surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of her dear family. She was the devoted wife to Robert D. McElroy, Sr. of Raynham.

Born in Attleboro, MA, she was the oldest of four daughters born to the late John D. and Vivian (Allaire) Unger.

Gail worked as an office administrator for the Girl Scout of America. She was also an active and ardent “Friend of Bill W” supporting many on their journeys.

In her spare time, Gail was an avid reader, especially novels by Stephen King. She liked to knit, garden, go camping, and cook. Above all she was happy with the time spent and memories made with her dear family.

In addition to her husband, Gail is survived by her two cherished sons: Robert McElroy, Jr. and his wife Lynn of Raynham and William McElroy and his wife Barbara of Berkley; her grandchildren: Jami McElroy and her fiancé Alyssa, Lauren Martineau and husband Shawn, Devin McElroy, Shayne McElroy and his wife Sandyn, and Kayla McElroy and her significant other Mitchell; her great-grandchildren: Anthony and Dominic Gianfrancesco, Kyler Martineau, Barret McElroy, and Aviyen Merced; her sisters: Susan Rafferty and Vivian Mendelsohn and her husband Michael of Rockport and the late Karen Compton; and also numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Gail’s funeral with visitation will be held on TUESDAY, February 4, 2025, at 10:00am with a Funeral Service to begin at 11am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.

Interment will be in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton.
