George Theodore Bushko, 91, of Taunton, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Longmeadow Nursing Home in Taunton.
George was the husband of the late Helen (Zukousky) Bushko who died in 2011. He was born in Eynon, PA, was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Kohut) Bushko, and brother to the late Pauline Piper.
He graduated from Archbald High School in 1947 and attended the Lackawanna Business School. George was a WWII combat veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served as a tail gunner on the USS Wasp in the South Pacific in 1944 and 1945.
George and Helen moved from Eynon, PA to Milford, CT in 1958, and while there he worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for 37 years as a machinist. In 2003 George and Helen moved to Taunton, and while living here, George enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball and football.
George is survived by his son, Carl A. Bushko, of West Chester, PA, and his daughter, Nancy B. Vincent and her husband, Joseph, of Taunton. George is also survived by his four grandchildren, Jeremy D. Vincent of Ann Arbor, MI, Joshua A. Vincent of Ouray, Co, and Victoria and Alex Bushko of West Chester, PA, as well as by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, April 23rd, 2018, at 8:30am in the Silva Funeral Home, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church, 370 Middleboro Avenue, East Taunton. Following the funeral Mass, George will be interred at the St. Francis Cemetery with military honors.
