George Faria, Jr., age 70 of Berkley, passed away at his residence on February 12, 2026.
He was the beloved husband of Arlene (McCully) Faria.
George was born in Taunton, the son of the late George and Rosalena (Rogers) Faria, Sr.
In his early years, George served in the Army as a heavy machine operator for nine years. After his service, he worked as an electrician and later owned his own company.
George loved the game of softball at every level. As a player, umpire, and director, he played a key role in revitalizing the USSSA softball leagues in Taunton, MA. His dedication earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 and induction into the USSSA Hall of Fame as a Director in 2024.
He served the Berkley community with pride as an Animal Control Officer, Animal Inspector, Electrical Inspector, and as a member of the Agricultural Commission. He took great pride in his work and in helping others whenever he could.
George was also an avid Beagler who truly loved his dogs and spent many happy hours with them and with his friends from the Beagle clubs. George touched the lives of so many and will be missed dearly.
Besides his beloved wife Arlene of 25 years, George is survived by his sons, Jason (wife - Caitlin) and Derek Faria; his daughter, Heather (husband - Kevin) Brito; his sister, Patricia Bolduc; his brother, Craig Faria; and his seven grandchildren.
