George R. Medeiros, Jr., age 46, of Middleboro, former longtime resident of Taunton, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Morton Hospital in Taunton. He was the devoted and loving husband for 18 cherished years to Emily (Sousa) Medeiros of Middleboro.
Born in Taunton, George was one of two children and the only son born to George R. Medeiros, Sr. and Debra A. (Nolette) Medeiros. He was raised and grew up in Taunton. George was a graduate with the Class of 1996 from Coyle Cassidy High School, a time during which he was known for his talent and passion for baseball.
A man with a strong work ethic, George worked for many years as a Laborer in the construction industry. When he wasn’t working, he was always lending a hand, whether it was around the house or helping neighbors.
Outside of his professional life, George had a deep love for leisure activities that allowed him to relax and bond with those he cared about. A passionate fisherman, George enjoyed both saltwater and freshwater fishing, though his true joy came from deep sea fishing. He was also an avid golfer, often spending hours on the fairways and greens at local courses. Yet, above all, George’s greatest happiness came from spending time with his family, creating lasting memories with his beloved wife and two children, who were the light of his life.
In addition to his parents and wife, George is survived by his proud children: Ella and Rhys Medeiros both of Middleboro; his sister: Stacey Dersham and her husband Todd of Westport; his maternal grandmother: Evelyn Simpson of Taunton; his paternal grandmother: Evelyn Medeiros of Floral City, FL; his parent-in-laws: Manuel and Maria Lia Sousa; his sibling-in-laws: Debbie Nunes and her husband Paul of Taunton, Lori Slaney and her husband Bill of Taunton, Stacy Royer and her husband Kurt of Taunton; his 8 nieces and nephews; and also countless aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
George’s funeral will be held on THURSDAY, January 30, 2025 at 9:30am with a service to begin at 10am in the chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.
Interment will be in Mayflower Hill Cemetery, Taunton.
