Geraldine Ann Carveiro, 84, of Wrentham, passed away on Wednesday, February 1st, 2023. Born in Taunton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Souza Carveiro and Emma (Medeiros) Carveiro.
Gerrie came to live at the Wrentham Developmental Center (WDC) on February 28, 1948 at the age of 9. Most recently she was a cherished resident of the Ewalt building’s Apartment 3. During almost 75 years of being part of the WDC community, Gerrie came to be known for a gentle, good-natured, and kind spirit. A close caregiver has mused that under different circumstances, Geraldine would be a kindly aunt or grandmother who always had candies in her purse to share with others.
Gerrie was known to surprise those around her with a bit of humor or mischief on occasion. However, Geraldine mostly preferred calm and peaceful days enjoying good food (particularly juice), sporting fashionable hair styles, and watching movies (especially The Hobbit).

She is survived by two brothers, Wayne Carveiro of Lakeville, MA and Donald Carveiro of Merritt Island, FL, as well as her caring guardian of almost twenty years, Kathleen Donovan. She is predeceased by her parents and siblings Manuel “Mike” Carveiro, Francis Carveiro, Alice Frates, Robert Carveiro, Joseph Carveiro, and Kenneth Carveiro.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for visitation at 10:00am on Wednesday February 8, 2023 at the Graves Auditorium of the Wrentham Developmental Center, 7 Littlefield Road, Wrentham, where her Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00am. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
