Helen B. ( Barkan) Lounsbury, age 97 of Raynham, passed away on June 17, 2025 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of the late Albert H. Lounsbury.

Born in Taunton, Helen was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Wacz) Barkan.

Before retiring in 2011, Helen was employed with the Town of Raynham as the Town Clerk for many years.

She enjoyed spending time with her beloved family, listening to music, going out to lunch, reading books and in later years listening to audio books. In her earlier years, a few of her activities were bowling, volunteering at her children’s school and Morton Hospital and was a member of the Quota Club in Taunton and the Massachusetts Town Clerks Association.

She loved animals and tree’s and her favorite poem was “Trees” by Joyce Kilmer.

Helen is survived by her loving daughter’s Marsha Silvia and her husband Gary of Raynham and Laurel Nunes and her husband Donald of Cape Cod. Beloved Grandmother of Heather Bairos &Tanya Bernier; great grandmother of John Jr. & Ashton Bairos, Ethan & Noah Bernier. Helen is also survived by her grand dog Gabriella Rose and her grand cat Alex. Helen also had a very special relationship with Amy Canepa who was like a granddaughter to her.

Helen was the sister of the late Edward, John, Joseph and Walter Barkan and the late Stella Torres.

Mrs. Lounsbury’s funeral with visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 9 am with a funeral service to begin at 11am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.

Interment will follow in Pleasant Street Cemetery, Raynham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to; Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472 or Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood St., Fall River, MA 02721 in Helen’s memory, would be deeply appreciated.
