TAUNTON - Helena (Batista) Sousa, wife of the late Arthur Sousa, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on Aug. 3, 2010.
She was 93.
Born in Santa Maria, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ana (Figuerido) Batista.
Raised and educated in the Azores, Mrs. Sousa moved to the Taunton area in 1957 and worked for several years as a seamstress for the former Whittenton Garment Co.
She was later employed by Texas Instruments and worked in their Attleboro location for many years, before retiring some time ago.
Mrs. Sousa was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph A. Sousa of Springhill, FL, and Arthur L. Cabral of Taunton; a daughter, Maria Jose Luz of Taunton; a brother Jaime Batista of Montreal; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Ana Roth.
Due to extenuating circumstances, funeral home calling hours are respectfully omitted.
Burial will be private at St. Joseph Cemetery.
A memorial mass, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Kilmer Ave. Taunton at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton.
