Helena Sousa

Helena (Sousa) Sousa, age 85 of Taunton, passed away on July 20, 2026 at Morton Hospital with her loving family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Sousa who passed in 2020.

Helena was born in Santa Maria, Azores, the daughter of the late Joao Furtado and Maria (Pereira) Sousa.

Before retiring, Mrs. Sousa was employed with S.R.P.E.D.D. as a housekeeper.

More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and her family gatherings. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and crocheting.

Helena is survived by her loving children, Maria DeSousa and her husband Paul of Santa Maria, Azores, Zenalia Chaves and her husband Augie of Taunton, Nelia Barros and her husband Antonio of Taunton and Joseph Sousa also of Taunton. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 12 Great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of Jose Sousa of Azores, Maria Sousa of Cambridge and Maria do Espirito Santo Pereira Sousa of Azores. Helena was also the sister of the late Antonio P. Sousa.

Helena’s funeral will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton.

Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 26 th from 2 to 5pm at the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
