Hilda (Motta) Duarte, age 97 of Taunton, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024 at Gulfside Hospice, FL with her loving family by her side. She was the former wife of the late James Motta who passed in 1975. She was the daughter of Frank & Louise (Rose) Perry of Faial, Azores (stepmother Beliza Moitoso). She was predeceased by her sons Dennis Motta and Russell Motta in 2010.
Hilda is survived by her husband Joseph Duarte, Holiday, FL and her daughter Diane Motta-Stevenson and husband Frank Stevenson of Delaware. Hilda was the sister of the late Elmer Perry and late sister-in-law Mary Perry. She has two grandchildren Mitchell Motta and Gerry Motta and two great grandchildren.
Hilda worked at many factory sites full time for years and ended up working at Dever State facility when she retired.
She loved playing cards, dancing, traveling and going to the beach. She was an active member of the Portuguese American Cultural Club in New Port Richey FL. They retired and moved to Florida 32 years ago from Taunton.
Hilda’s Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of her soul will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10am in St. Nicholas of Myra, 499 Spring St. North Dighton.
Relatives and friends may meet directly at church at beginning at 9:45am. Please park in the rear lot behind the church.
Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, E Britannia St., Taunton.
