Hilda B. Lopes

Taunton- Hilda B. (Amaral) Lopes, age 101, of Taunton, passed away peacefully in the late evening hours of Sunday, April 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, at Life Care of Raynham. She was the beloved wife to the late Arceno S. Lopes, who passed away in 1996.

Born in Sao Miguel, Hilda was one of four children born to the late Antonio and Maria (Botelho) Amaral.

The four most important things in Hilda’s life were faith, family, friends and work.

In her spare time, Hilda had a wide array of hobbies and interests. She loved to listen and dance to traditional Portuguese music. Hilda worked at Swank’s in Attleboro for 35 years until her retirement in 1988. Hilda was also a talented seamstress and had the ability to sew nearly anything, often making her own clothes. Above all, she was the most happy spending time with and making memories with her dear family, especially her grandchildren.

Hilda is survived by her proud and cherished daughter, Deborah Titus and her husband Glenn of Jensen Beach, FL and Taunton; three treasured grandchildren: Courtney L. Titus of Monterey Bay, CA, Jordan L. Titus of Billerica, MA, and Joshua G. Titus of Riverside, Rhode Island; and also many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to her husband and parents, Hilda is predeceased by her siblings: Mary Duarte, Mary Jo Serido, and Alvao Amaral.

Hilda would have liked to thank all her aids throughout the years who helped her stay in her treasured home until her 100th birthday. She would also have liked to thank Lifecare of Raynham and her friends there that made it a pleasure to be there. Furthermore,  she would have liked to thank Compassionate  Care- Hospice for making her transition peaceful and easier for the family. Hilda would also be honored to thank the mayor of Taunton, Shaunna O’ Connell, for coming as a guest to her 100th birthday and making it extra special.

Hilda’s Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of her soul, will be held on Thursday , May 2, 2024 at 9am in St. Anthony Church, 126 School St., Taunton. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Anthony Church and park in the lot behind the church.  Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, E Britannia St., Taunton.

Hilda’s Life Celebration will be held on Wednesday , May 1, 2024 beginning with a visitation from 5pm to 6pm, with Words of Remembrance to be shared from 6pm to 7pm  in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square), Taunton MA.
