Idilia Gonsalves

Idilia (Moitoso) Gonsalves, age 81 of Taunton, passed away on November 22, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family and friends at her side.

She was the beloved wife of Carlos Gonsalves.

Born in Fayal, Acores, the daughter of the late Jose and Angelina (Matos) Moitoso.

Before retiring, Mrs. Gonsalves was employed with Taunton Sportswear as a seamstress along with several other companies in the Taunton area.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and most of all being a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was devoted to her Church and a member of the Holy Ghost Society. She was mostly devoted to her family especially her grandchildren with whom she cared for and loved immensely.

Besides her beloved husband Carlos of over 59 years, Idilia is survived by her loving children, Linda Borges and husband Carlos of Taunton, Stephen Gonsalves and wife Riza of Taunton, and Sandra Poirier and husband Abel of Taunton, Grandmother of Amanda Vooys and wife Katherine of Boxborough, Noah Borges and Fiance Grace Collins of New Port Richey, FL and Tanner Poirier of Taunton. She was also the sister of Maria Faria of Taunton, Jose Eduardo Moitoso of Taunton, Olga Fernandes of Taunton, and Matilde Santos of Raynham. Idilia was also the sister of the late Jose, Mario, Manuel, Alberto Moitoso, and the late Maria Manuela Cunha.

Idilia’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Annunciation of the Lord Church in Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 25 th from 4 to 7pm at the Silva Funeral Home.
