Irene (Almeida) Amaral, age 81, passed away January 20, 2018 at Morton Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Marion “ Marty” Amaral.
Born in Taunton she was a daughter of the late John S. and Mary P. ( Baptiste) Almeida.
Irene was a 1954 graduate of Taunton High School. Before retirement in 1991, she was employed with Taunton State Hospital as a food service manager for over 27 years.
She enjoyed cooking, mahjongg, poker and bingo. For the past several years she resided at Leisurewoods and enjoyed participating in their many parties and shows.
Mrs. Amaral is survived by her beloved son Marty J. Amaral of Taunton and his wife Christine. She also leaves a granddaughter Stacia Littlefield of Naples, FL, and two nieces; Betty Ann Amaral and Sherry Lynn Almeida. She was the sister of the late John “Sonny” Almeida and Jenny Gomes. She was known as Aunt Renee to many.
Visitation is respectfully omitted. Burial will be held privately.
