Isaura (Maria) Calheta, age 85 of Taunton, passed away on March 1, 2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of Antonio Calheta.
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Isaura was the daughter of the late Joao and Estrella (Chibante) Banana.
Before retiring, Mrs. Calheta was employed with Swank Manufacturing as a packer.
She loved her family, especially all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she loved to cook, especially making her sweet bread (massa) for the holidays to share with her family, loved to read, crochet and watch the Portuguese channel (RTP).
Besides her beloved husband Antonio of over 65 years, she is survived by her three loving daughters, Zurita Melo and husband Jose and Maria Chaves and husband Angelo, both from East Taunton and Grace Krockta and husband Stephen from Taunton. She was the grandmother of Danny, Timothy, Steven, Matthew and Nicholas, great grandmother of Anthony, Juliana and Olivia. She was also the sister of six living brothers and three living sisters.
Mrs. Calheta’s funeral with visitation will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Anthony’s Church, School St, Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
