Jaime G. Cunha, age 86 of Taunton, passed away on December 31, 2023 at Marian Manor with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Manuela (Moitoso) Cunha.
Jaime was born in Faial, Açores the son of the late Jose and Maria Garcia (Dutra) Cunha.
Before retiring, Mr. Cunha was employed with Paul A. Dever for 18 years and previously employed with Frank Noone Shoe for 15 years. Before immigrating to the United States in 1966, he was a very proud business owner of a tavern/market as well as owning a taxi driving business in his village, Capelo. He was a very hard worker; however, always had time to do what he loved most which was fishing with family and friends on his boat “Santo Antonio” as well as getting together on weekends to play cards and dominos.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandson. He had the most enjoyment in telling them stories of his younger years back in Açores and how he met his sweet Maria Manuela.
Jaime is survived by his loving children, Lucia M. Pereira and companion Americo Silveira and Jaime M. Cunha and wife Karri both of Taunton. Grandfather of Ariana Melo and husband Helder, Ariel, Derek, Shalyn, Jaymie, Jordan and great grandfather of Cain Melo. Mr. Cunha was the brother of Antonio Cunha, Maria Cunha both of the Açores and Angelina Silveira of California. He was also the brother of the late Gabriel, Manuel, Onofre, Daniel, Jose Cunha and the late Olivia Silveira.
Jaime’s funeral will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 8:30 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Annunciation of the Lord Church First Street, Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held in the Silva Funeral Home on Sunday, January 7th from 5 to 8pm.
