James D. Brackett, age 74 of Raynham, passed away on August 8, 2026 at his home after a long hard fought battle with cancer.
He was the husband of Linda Joy (Johnson) Brackett.
Born in Middleboro, MA, he was the son of the late Richard and Agnes (Rose) Brackett.
Jim was a man of few words but was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Jim had many interests. He was happiest outside working in the yard. In the winter you could find him plowing the neighbors driveways, widening the street or plowing the side walks.
In the summer he was working in his gardens.
He was an accomplished HAM radio operator call sign N1IAL, he would speak to people all over the world.
Jim had a love for animals, he leaves behind his beloved cats, one Dennis the Menace with whom he had a special bond. Dennis was with him day and night throughout his illness and provided much comfort.
We want to thank the incredible Doctors, and nurses at Dana Farber in Foxboro. They were there every step of the way providing support and expert care.
Besides his beloved wife Linda of 50 years, he is survived by his sister Judy Brackett. He was the brother of the late Janice Carney, Christine Brackett and Cindy McQuade. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday August 23, 2026 at Home Plate Bay Street Grill 1094 Bay Street Taunton MA. Please join us between 1PM-3PM.
