James Richard Pacheco, age 90, died peacefully on May 31st, 2019 surrounded by his family after battling a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Alice (Martin) Pacheco, with whom he shared a wonderful 63 years of marriage. Born in and a lifelong resident of Taunton, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria Pacheco. Additionally, he was the last surviving of the 13 children of Manuel and Maria.
Jim had a tenure of thirty years of employment at Coppercraft Guild which was followed by ten years at the City of Taunton Water Treatment Plant. His working career came to an end with the news that he was going to become a grandfather.
Jim had numerous hobbies and passions in life that include cooking, gardening, traveling, and watching sports games, particularly those of his beloved Boston Red Sox. He also was a lifetime member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks and the Portuguese American Civic Club. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Alice, his amazing daughter Karen (Pacheco) Harraghy and her husband David Harraghy, his grandson Patrick Harraghy, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday June 5th from 10:30am-12:00pm in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, St. Mary’s Square, Taunton, MA. Burial service will be private.
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
