Jason "Jay" Desrosiers

Jason “Jay” Desrosiers, age 49 of Taunton, passed away the morning of Thursday July 16, 2026 at home with his loving family by his side.

Jay was the adored husband of Lianne (Mendonca) Desrosiers and proud dad of Hannah and Ava Desrosiers and Collin.

Born in Taunton the son of Joan (Cumiskey) King and Dennis Desrosiers. Jay was most recently employed at TPC Boston, a job he loved going to everyday. In his words “what could be better than working on a golf course.”

Jay attended Taunton public schools and was a 1995 graduate of Coyle and Cassidy High School. He was an accomplished athlete and enjoyed playing sports throughout his whole life including baseball in his younger years, playing for Taunton East and Babe Ruth. During his time at Parker Middle School he was one of the best basketball players in the city and was a star basketball player during his years at Coyle and Cassidy. Notably one of the best players of his time. As quoted from a former teammate “Jay was a reliable, dependable, selfless teammate. He made his teammates better by being out there and left a positive mark that went beyond the court.”

Jay found his greatest happiness at home in his own sanctuary he built including his putt-putt, basketball court, driving range, and pool where he loved to lounge and play his summer playlist with his wife Lianne, who he lovingly called Lainey. He loved the life he built cherishing every moment of it with his girls. He loved clam chowder, jeep rides, dirt bikes, Jordan sneakers, IPAs, old eighties movies and never missing a day taking his beloved dogs for a walk. He deeply valued his lifelong friendships he built over the years cherishing the mutual loyalty he shared, which is a true reflection of his character. He appreciated what was right in front of him and his genuine love of life and ability to live in the moment is truly inspirational. His huge smile reflects how he had no worries and was able to find joy in every day.

Besides his wife, children, and parents Jay leaves behind his sister Cheryl Hopkins, nephews, Dylan Gookin, Jake Hopkins and Jermaine Pina. He also leaves behind his mother and father-in-law Elizabeth and Timothy Slattery, stepfather Wayne Cushman, ex-wife Marissa Desrosiers and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, extended family members and neighbors. He was also predeceased by his stepfather Joseph King. Jay was also a devoted dog dad to Bodie, Hank, Maisie, Penny, Rufus, and Shelby Desrosiers and Papa to his grand dog Frankie. He was predeceased by his pets Maxy, Roscoe, and Boots.

Jays funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 9am with a funeral service to begin at 10am in the chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.

Interment will follow in the Saint Francis Cemetery, North Walker Street, Taunton.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday July 21 st from 4pm to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home. Jay’s daughters are asking everyone to wear blue, Jay’s favorite color.

Jay’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to family, friends, and neighbors who have helped support them through this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness, prayers and countless acts of generosity have not gone unnoticed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to; The Hotel for Homeless Dogs, The Providence Animal Rescue League, or the Newhouse Wildlife Rescue in Jay’s memory because he loved all of the animals.
