TAUNTON - Jeanne L. "Cookie" Mastro-Showstead, the wife of Thomas Showstead, died at Tufts - New England Medical Center in Boston on Dec. 22, 2009.
She was 69.
Born and raised in Haverhill, she graduated from Haverhill High School in 1958, and later, from Mt. Ida College, School of Arts & Sciences.
A home health aide for several years, she retired many years ago due to disability.
Currently, Cookie was a volunteer camera operator for the City of Taunton, recording city council, and other city government meetings.
A member of the St. Jude the Apostle Women's Guild, she was also a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 2633 of Mansfield, and chairperson for the MA Elks Association Drug Awareness Program Trailer.
Besides her husband of Taunton, she leaves a son, James Mastro of Taunton; a daughter, Donna Bachman and her husband Bruce of Dedham; and three grandchildren, Tiffany Mastro of Hyde Park, and Melanie and Alexander Mastro, both of Berkley.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Monday, Dec. 28th at 11 a.m. followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 27th from 5 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
