Jo-Ann "Mema" (Gonsalves) Lopes, age 81 of Taunton, passed away on June 1, 2021.
She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Lopes.
Jo-Ann was born in Taunton on March 25, 1940, the daughter of the late James and Antonia (Monteiro) Gonsalves.
She worked for many years at the Tannery. Jo-Ann cherished time spent with her family and enjoyed playing Bingo as well as crocheting.
Jo-Ann is survived by her loving grandchildren; Krystal lopes, Amanda Melendez and Alyssa Melendez, great-grandmother of 5, and sister of Anna Barros of New Bedford, Mary Lou Antone and Antonia Monteiro both of Newport, RI. She was the mother of the late Robert "Bum" Lopes and Robin Lopes and sister of the late Alfred, Samuel, James , Bobby Gonsalves, Bella Monteiro, Delores Barboza, Hilda Avallar and Amelia Sanders.
Jo-Ann’s funeral will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 7:45am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, June 6th from 2 to 5pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
