Joao B. Coelho

TAUNTON - Joao B. Coelho, husband of Evangelina (Vieira) Coelho, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on March 12, 2010.
He was 90 years old.
Born in Lisbon Portugal, he was the son of the late Joaquin and Inorata (Ramos) Coelho.
Raised and educated in Portugal, he served with the Portuguese Army during WW II.
He moved to St. Michael, Azores, where he lived for several years, later moving to the U.S. with his family in 1968.
Mr. Coelho worked as a silver polisher for the former F.B. Rogers Silver Co. and also worked for Dyecraftsman and Rosemar.
He retired in 1984.
A communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, and a member of the Taunton Sports Club, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and sports.
Besides his wife of Taunton, he leaves two sons, Manuel S. Coelho and his wife Gail of Taunton, and John S. Coelho and his wife Lisa of E. Taunton; four daughters, Maria C. Paiva, Maria Angelina Ferreira, Mary Jo Vieira and Maria Connie Pimental and her husband Agostinho, all of Taunton; a sister, Alice DeSousa of Taunton; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Wednesday, March 17th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 16th from 5 to 8 p.m.
