Joao "John" Gomes

Joao “John” Gomes, age 75 of Taunton, passed away on June 12, 2021 at Morton Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Maria (Dutra) Gomes.

Joao was born in Faial, Azores, the son of the late Joao and Olivia (Vargas) Gomes.

Besides his loving wife Maria, he is survived by his children; Steven Gomes and longtime companion Sherry, Michael Escobar and wife Pam, Elizabeth DaRosa and husband Pedro, grandchildren; Taneisha, Pedro Jr., Chelsea, Jared, Estelle, great grandchildren; Jaziah, Jayden, Janiyah, Neveah and Lincoln. He also leaves a nephew Kevin Gomes and sister-in- law Fatima. He was the brother of the late Daniel Gomes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 10am in Annunciation of the Lord Church, 31 First Street Taunton.

Relatives and friends may meet directly at church at 9:45am.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
