Joao Carlos Medeiros

Joao C. Medeiros, age 71 of Taunton, passed away February 22, 2023 with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of the late Berta M. (Botelho) Medeiros, who passed away in 2017. Joao  was born in Sao Miguel, Acores  the son of the late Antonio and Virginia (Martins) deMedeiros Before retirement Mr. Medeiros was employed with Quebecor World as a book printer.

He enjoyed the company of his family, especially his granddaughters.  He loved growing grapes and making wine, he loved his faith and enjoyed attending mass, where he loved to do the reading and sing in the choir.  He was a Mestre de Romeiros for many years in Sao Miguel and was overjoyed when the tradition started here in Taunton and he was able to once again lead the Romeiros.

Mr. Medeiros is survived by his loving  children, Sandra Ferreira married to Laudelino Ferreira, Rui Medeiros and partner Brian Way all of Taunton and Claudia Kane married to Thomas Kane of Easton. Grandfather of Brianna, Sofia, Madison, Madelyn and Isabella. He was also the brother of Antonio Medeiros of Acores, Conceicao Frias of Canada and Maria Helena Medeiros of Acores. He was also the brother of the late Manuel Cabrinha, Jose Fernando Medeiros and Maria Jose Pereira. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 8:30 am from The Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at St. Mary's Square) Taunton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Annunciation of the Lord Church, First St., Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 28 th from 4 to 7 pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
