John H. Pacheco, age 82 a lifelong resident of Somerset, passed away on March 7, 2019 at his residence with his loving daughter and son-in-law by his side.
John was the beloved husband of Barbara (Macedo) Pacheco who passed away on February 23. They shared over 61 years of marriage together.
Mr. Pacheco was born in Somerset, a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Raposa) Pacheco. Before retiring, John was employed by Fall River Electric Co. working for various departments including the Underground, Overhead and Meter Dept. Growing up and residing in the village all his life he was an avid fisherman and loved boating. As a young man he made his first boat and absolutely loved the water not only to fish but to swim especially at Pierces Beach growing up as a child. He loved motorcycles and camping with his family. He was also an avid woodworker. All those loves he passed down to his daughter. One of his favorite hobbies was to spend time with his “furgrandkids” at Simcock Farm and helping his daughter and son-in-law maintain the farm. In addition to always mowing and maintaining the grounds, he brought the original barn back to life and also built the hayride wagon used today that so many enjoy rides on at the farm along with the flower carts used at the stand. Winters were spent enjoying the beach in FL with his beloved wife Barbara.
John served his country with the Navy as a Seaman 1st Class during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his loving daughter Beverlyann Simcock and her husband James of Swansea, and was also the Loving father of Maryann Pacheco who passed away in 1974 at the age of 10.
