John “Jay” Lyons, age 68 of Assonet, passed away on July 18, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Tokarz) Lyons for 40 years.
John was born in Taunton, Massachusetts, the son of the late John and Mary Lyons, both of Taunton.
He was employed as a truck driver for many years and was a proud Teamsters member. He worked at James Ferrera & Sons for the majority of his career, but also spent time working for P&P Pet Food Distributors and Stop and Shop.
Upon retiring, he worked part time as a driving instructor for South Shore Driving Academy where he passed his love for the road and years of experience onto his students.
When he was not on the road, John loved watching the Red Sox with a cold Coca Cola or Coffee Frappe by his side.
Besides his wife Joanne, he is survived by his son Zachary and his wife Ashlee of Taunton MA. He was the brother of Mary Parkinson and her husband Bruce of Falmouth MA. John leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
