John M. Silvia, Jr., age 48 of Taunton, passed away on May 28, 2019 at Tufts Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Fall River, MA the son of Rosalie J. (Barboza) Pelletier and the Late John M. Silvia, Sr.
Enjoyed ... Family and Friends! After working hard all night at a 3rd shift job, he looked forward to taking his mom out for breakfast every Friday. They would sit and catch up on the weeks events, while scratching tickets and enjoying quality time. John found out that his father was not doing well. He gave up his apartment to move in with dad where he took care of him and brought quality to his life. They shopped at WALMART and went to eat at The Liberal Club where they became like family. John became “The Candyman” bringing in bags of everyone’s favorite candy and snacks. If you had a pet, he knew it and showed up with “peeps” for the pets. He took the time to get to know a little about everyone and recognized them in meaningful ways.
John loved fishing and as a kid it was his favorite thing to do. When John was 7, he caught his first fish, he told thought it was so big and in reality it was about 4 inches long. He taught his younger brothers how to fish, shave and pick up women and he showed his younger sisters how to stay away from boys like his younger brothers. I can recall how proud he was the day he took his daughter, Kayla to the father daughter dance. He loved family days! On Sundays, in the summer, the whole family would gather, have a cookout, swim, share stories, play games and end the night with s’mores. John got his drivers license late in life, after his best friend Henry talked him into it. When John was just a teenager, Henry was showing him how drive. John entered the highway going the wrong way. Having to be forced into knowing how to do a immediate u-turn, he pulled over to the side of the road and gave the keys back to Henry. He collected motorcycles, owned a corvette and recently purchased a Lexus.
He liked to work and worked very hard, he was what some people refer to as a workaholic. He started working at 13 years old and did everything from cooking at Taunton State hospital with his Grandfather to picking and packing at Preferred Freezer, Lineman for cable TV to Taper at Prysmian Cable and Systems US LLC in Taunton. John was know as a kindhearted, thoughtful, selfless, caring man. He will be missed b
Besides his loving mom he is survived by his step-mother Sandra Pelletier, step- daughter Kayla Wentworth, Siblings; Charles Gracy, Jacqueline Pelletier, John Figueiras, David Robinson, Robert “ Baretta” Silvia, Christine Wilding, Dawn Marie Sousa and Kimberly Silvia. He also leaves three grandchildren and his only godson Jai’ce Rusty Thompson and several nieces and nephews. John was the brother of the late Richard Sousa.
