FALL RIVER/TAUNTON - John P. Poissant, formerly of Taunton, died at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River on July 16, 2012.
He was 61.
Born and raised in Taunton, he was the son of the late Nelson and Alice (Delano) Poissant.
A 1969 graduate of Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School, he was employed as a cook by the Paul Dever State School in Taunton, and later cooked for the Crystal Springs Nursing Home in Fall River.
A resident of Fall River for the past ten years, Mr. Poissant loved cooking and feeding family, friends and neighbors; and loved his dogs, Molly and Bobo.
Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Benevides of Fall River; a son, Jason Poissant Pomerleau of Brockton; a brother, Lester Poissant of Taunton; two sisters, Geraldine Avonzo of Taunton and Cathy Schull of Florida; three grandchildren, Kyle, Vanessa, and Sarah; an aunt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Jeffrey and Nelson Poissant, and Nancy Galuski.
Calling Hours will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, July 23rd from 5 to 8 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Cremation will take place at a later date.
