John L. Sabina, Jr., age 77 of Taunton, passed away at his residence on June 7, 2024 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Henrietta (Altyn) Sabina. Born in Brockton, John was the son of the late John L. and Leona (Slanda) Sabina, Sr. Before retiring, Mr. Sabina was employed with Pharmerica Pharmacy as a technician for many years. He was a member of the Polish White Eagles in Brockton, where he was club president for over twenty years. He was also a member of the Polish American Citizens Club in Taunton. John enjoyed Polka music, both playing and listening. He had his own Polka band, where he played the accordion and concertina. John went on to play with many well known Polka musicians, such as Dick Pillar, Lenny Gumolka and Frankie Gubala. During the Christmas season, John would play Polish music on his accordion at the midnight masses at Holy Rosary Parish. He was an avid sports fan and coached various youth sports. John coached youth baseball in Brockton as well as Pop Warner football in Taunton for several years. He was part of the coaching staff for the Southern New England Rage Semi-Pro football team for two years. Besides his beloved wife Henrietta of over 45 years, John is survived by his loving children, the late Adele Sabina, Katherine “Kat” Sabina of Taunton, Theresa Caliri of Easton and Walter Sabina of Taunton, grandfather of Jaden, Louisa, Lily, Nayel and Henry. John was also the brother of Bernard Sabina of Brockton. A celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 4 to 7pm in the Polish Club of Taunton 314 Bay Street, Taunton MA 02780.
