John E. Thomas, 72, of Taunton, passed away on December 15, 2020. He was the loving husband of Mary F. (Perry) Thomas. They were married for fifty years. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late John T. and Lucy (Rosa) Thomas.
He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps.
John worked as a truck driver for the United States Postal Service for many years, before retiring. He enjoyed computers and talking to family and friends.
Besides his wife, he leaves his three sons, John D. Thomas, of Kingston, MA, Edward A. Thomas, of Brockton, and James M. Thomas, of Pennsylvania; a sister, Lorraine Nye, of Rehoboth; seven beloved grandchildren, Michael J. Thomas, Zachary A. Thomas, Dillion E. Thomas, Katherine Thomas, Kelly Thomas, Raina Thomas, and Jake Thomas; and his daughter in law Carla Carreiro. He was the brother of the late Lucy Rosa.
John’s funeral with visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, in Saint Mary’s Church, Saint Mary’s Square, Taunton.
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the Funeral Home.
Facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
Interment with military honors will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, at 1:15 pm.
