John "Ed" E. Hickey, Iii

d. October 21, 2022

John “Ed” Hickey, III, age 53 of Taunton, passed away at his residence on October 21, 2022.

John was born in Taunton, the beloved son of the late John E. and Marion (Brown) Hickey, Jr.

Before his illness, John was employed with ATALIAN and worked at Rentschler as a Facilities Maintenance Technician.

He was a member of the Italian Club and his own term “School of Life”. John (Ed) enjoyed being of Irish heritage and loved everything Celtic and Viking.  He would always say “Dance to the Chaos” and that he did!  He was touched by music of all kinds and in complete agreement with Stevie Ray Vaughan’s view that Jazz and Rock & Roll are babies of The Blues!  His love of the NON-mainstream made him a very interesting conversationalist, not to mention a great debate partner and/or opponent.  He had a passion for Viking and Celtic history and had an extensive collection of eclectic memorabilia which he emersed himself in and love to display.  He had an amazing quality of being able to enjoy conversations and always took a little piece of that interaction as part of his quest in life to learn.

Mr. Hickey is survived by a sister Mary Baptiste of Taunton and her partner Brian Paskowski.  His brother Robert Hickey of New Hampshire and his wife Lorraine.   John is also survived by his niece Andrea Cooperrider, nephew and friend Mark Baptiste II, nephew Aaron Hickey, aunts, uncles, many cousins and now even a few great niece and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square.) Taunton.

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.

His burial will be held privately.
