Jose Carroca, age 82 of Taunton, passed away surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his devoted family, on Monday, February 26, 2024, at his home in Taunton. He was the loving and caring husband to the late Maria (Travassos) Carroca, who passed away on March 15, 2023.
Born in Sao Miguel, Acores, Jose was one of five children born to the late Manuel and Maria Do Carmo (Pedro) Carroca and brother to predeceased siblings Maria Da Conceicao, Augusto, Eugenio and Maria de Lurdes. He grew up in Sao Miguel and immigrated to the United States in 1974.
Jose initially settled in Cambridge, then in 1988 he and Maria were able to purchase their home in Taunton, where they would raise their family.
A hardworking man with a great work ethic, Jose worked as a Machinist for aerospace Manufacturing industry, Barry Wright Controls based in Watertown.
Outside of work and in his spare time, Jose enjoyed going for walks with his precious dog Coco, watching soccer games, planting his vegetable garden, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
Jose is survived by his proud and loving children: Roberto Carroca, Anabela Carroca both of Taunton, Mass, Norma Meeks and her husband Jimmy of Brockton, Mass and Helena Nordengren and her husband Eric of Merrimack, NH. He was a treasured grandfather to Sean, Andrew, Mya, Garrett, Brianne, Fallyn, Taylor, Caden and Gavin and great-grandfather to Mia, Madison, Chase, Christian, Cataleya, Gunner and soon to be great-grandson Greyson and the loving grandfather of the late Brendon Darosa.
Jose’s funeral will be held on Wednesday , March 6, 2024 at 8:00 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of his soul at 9 am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday , March 5th from 5 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the Funeral Home.
