Jose Resendes Melo

Jose Resendes Melo, 65, of Taunton, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at Morton Hospital. He was the husband of Juliana da Silva Melo.

Born in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Manuel Nordelo and Maria Beatriz dos Santos (Resendes) Melo.

He worked as a custodian at Taunton High School for the past ten years. Jose was a hard worker and loved working. He also enjoyed landscaping.

Besides his wife Juliana, he leaves his children, Anabel Melo, of Fall River, Tony Melo and Betty Melo, both of Marlborough; step children, Chrystian Paiva, Fharlley Paiva, Edward Paiva, and Joao Paiva, all of Taunton; grandchildren, Anthony Melo, Tony Melo, Steve Melo, and Aryana Melo; six siblings, Maria Ilda Melo (Antonio Bairos), Theresinha Rego (Jose Rego), Antonio Melo (Beatriz Melo), Manny Mello ( Cibele Melo), Natalia Melo, and Joao Melo (Cristina Melo); and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square)

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.

Jose’s funeral will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 8:30 am, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Marys’ Square) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, in Saint Anthony Church, School Street, Taunton. Interment will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
