Jose F. Sousa

Jose F. Sousa, husband of Maria A. (Sousa) Sousa, died at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River on April 8, 2009.
He was 78.
Born on the island of Santa Maria, Azores, he was the son of the late Jose P. and Maria Umbelina (Freitas) Sousa.
A self-employed farmer while living in the Azores, he moved to the Taunton area in 1972, where he was employed by Swank Inc. for over 15 years, retiring at the age of 65.
A communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Mr. Sousa enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
A loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather, he was cherished by his family, and will be missed immensely.
Besides his wife, he leaves 2 sons, Carlos DeSousa of Mattapoisett and John DeSousa of Taunton; 4 daughters, Maria Laudalina Bauer of Bourne, Cidalia "Cindy" Kushner and Natalie Fontes, both of Taunton, and Lucy DeSousa of Sharon; 3 sisters, Maria Chaves of Wareham, Gloria Leonardo of CT and Conceicao Cabral of Canada; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Jose M. Sousa and the brother of the late Antonio, Manuel and Agostinho Sousa, and the late Filomena Sousa Pacheco.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, April 11th at 9 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be on Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a memorial mass, which will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Tremont St., Taunton on Tuesday, April 14th at 9 a.m.
