Jose R. Sousa

Jose R. Sousa, age 90, of Taunton, MA passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at his home.

He was the husband of Maria (Chaves) Sousa.

He was the son of the late Manuel and Jacinta (Rego) Sousa.

Before retiring, he was employed with New England Foundry for many years.

Jose enjoyed fishing and gardening around his house tending to his fruit and vegetable trees. He also enjoyed spending time with his loving family.

Besides his wife Maria of over 50 years, he is survived by his children; Delio Sousa, Arsenio Sousa, Jose Sousa and wife Zelia, Dulce Sousa and husband Marcos, grandchildren; Brianna Sousa, Gabriel Sousa, Brayton Sousa, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Manuel Sousa, Maria Sousa, Filomena Sousa, and grandfather of the late Demetree Sousa.

Jose’s funeral with visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 9:00am followed by a funeral home service at 11:00am in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton. ( Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.)

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
