Joseph Camara, Sr., husband of the late Sadie (Loretto) Azevedo Camara, died at Wedgemere Nursing Home on May 28, 2009.
He was 87.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Correia) Camara.
An Army Veteran of WW II, he later worked as a property maintenance manager for the City of Providence for over 27 years, retiring at the age of 62.
A member of the Taunton Eagles and Clube Espirito Santos, Mr. Camara enjoyed playing pool and cards.
He leaves a sister, Clara Brown of Oklahoma and his good friend, Helvio "Al" Silveira of Berkley.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Tremont St. Taunton on Wednesday, June 3rd at 11 a.m., followed by committal services at the MA National VA Cemetery, Bourne at 1:15 p.m.
Calling Hours will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Wednesday, June 3rd from 9 to 10:30 a.m., preceding the funeral mass.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
