Joseph Coelho

Of Sandwich, formerly of Taunton - Joseph Coelho, husband of Lena (Rose) Coelho, died on July 26th at the Cape Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center in Sandwich after a brief illness. He was 90.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late John and Serafina (Berthao) Coelho.
Educated in Taunton Schools, he graduated from Taunton High School in 1936.
A firefighter with the Taunton Fire Dept. for many years, he retired as Lieutenant in 1982. He also operated Coelho Painting and Decorating for many years, and was a member of The Knights of Columbus, B. P. O. Elks Lodge 150, and the Holy Name Society. He was an avid Patriots fan.
Besides his wife, he leaves 2 sons, Joseph F. Coelho and his wife Kathy of S. Yarmouth, and Paul J. Coelho of Plainville; 3 daughters, Mary Anne Long and her husband Earle of Hauula, HI, Terry E. Rich and her husband Jim of Taunton, and Sr. Paula Coelho, SUSC of Boston; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday July 30th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church, Taunton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
