Joseph L. Fernandes, Sr, age 96 of Raynham, passed away on March 17, 2025 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Edna M. (Paige) Fernandes.
Born in Raynham, Joseph was the son of the late Casimiro and Mary (Correia) Fernandes.
Before retiring, Joseph was employed with Bay State Produce as a sales manager.
A proud Army Veteran, Joseph served his country as a Sgt during the Korean Conflict from 1949-1954.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 611 and the American Legion of Raynham.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and fixing his 1951 Ford.
Besides his beloved wife Edna of over 73 years, Joseph is survived by three sons, Joseph Fernandes, jr, Brian Fernandes and Gary Fernandes, a daughter Gail Santos, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Daniel Fernandes and Irene Connors and brother of the late Bernardo Fernandes, Francisco Fernandes, Deolinda Brackett and the late Beatrice Gonsalves.
Mr. Fernandes funeral with visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 9:30am from The Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am in Saint Ann Church North Main Street, Raynham.
Interment with military honors will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
