Joseph James Silvia

d. January 29, 2025

Joseph James Silvia, age 97 of Lakeville, passed away on January 29, 2025 at Hathaway Manor in New Bedford with his loving family by his side.

Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Emily ( Pontes) Silvia.

He was the husband of the late Jeanette Louise (Nepini)

Joseph was a devoted father, papa, godfather and uncle who always put the needs of others before his own. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family made him a cherished figure in the lives of those who knew him. Known for his incredible work ethic, he worked tirelessly from dawn until dusk, always giving his best in everything he did.

Joseph had a heart of gold, and his warmth, sense of humor, and gentle nature made him beloved by all who crossed his path. His radiant smile could light up any room, and he had a special gift for making others feel at ease. He took great pride in his yard and garden, where he grew vegetables to share with anyone who stopped by.

Above all, Joseph treasured the time spent with his family, especially his great-grandchildren, Avi and Addie. He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandson, Remington, and will continue to watch over him until that joyous day. Now, he has been reunited with the love of his life, his wife Jeanette, whose absence he felt deeply. Together again, they are forever at peace.

Joseph lived a long, happy, and healthy life, and his legacy of love, kindness, independence and hard work will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Joe is survived by his children; Wanda J Hardy, Steven J. Silvia and his wife Melissa, sisters; Adeline Nascimento, Alice Harnois, Beatrice Vieira, grandchildren; Bryan Silvia, Danielle (Hardy) Charbonneau, Gregory Silvia, great- grandchildren; Avianna Silvia, Addison Charbonneau and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Kevin J Silvia and the brother of the late Francis Silvia, Mary Conway and Dolores Silvia.

Joseph’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Hathaway Manor and Compassionate Care Hospice Services for loving their dad like their own.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 11:00am in Saint Joseph Cemetery, 475 E. Britannia Street Taunton. Relatives and friends may meet directly at the gate of the cemetery at 10:45am.
