Joseph S. Teixeira, age 71 of Wareham, passed away on April 7, 2021 at Saint Luke Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Debra (Gray) Teixeira.
Joe was born in Terceira, Azores, the son of the late Anelce and Delfina (Soares) Teixeira.
He proudly became a United States citizen in 1978.
Before retiring in 2014 he was employed as a union laborer with the PJ Keating Co. Mr. Teixeira was a member of the Laborers Union Local 876. He enjoyed gardening, watching all NE sports, taking cruises but most of all loved to watch his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife Debra of over 49 years. He was the loving father of Kelli Tokarz and her husband James of Wareham, Karri Cunha and her husband Jimmy of Taunton and Kati Madeira and her fiancé Jose of New Bedford. He was the devoted grandfather of Kyle, Jaymie, Kori, James, Jordan, Katelyn and Kelsi, great-grandfather of Kaiden. We want to recognize Laurie Paiva and her daughters Kiley and Lexi whom he considered as part of his family. Joe also leaves behind his siblings Frank Teixeira, James Teixeira, Alexandrina Costa, Delfina Desrosiers, Lorraine Silvia, Mary Hill all of Taunton, Eugenia Mendonca of Carver, Charles Teixeira of East Taunton and Domingos Teixeira of Onset. He was predeceased by his brother Joaquin “Jack” Teixeira.
Joseph’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 7:30 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 12th from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the Funeral Home.
During all services, facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
