Joseph M. Vieira

Joseph M. Vieira , 96, of Taunton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Marian Manor, in Taunton. He was the beloved husband of the late Julieta (Resendes) Vieira.

Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Mota) Vieira.

Mr. Vieira served proudly in the Portuguese Army.

Joseph lived in Brazil and owned his own landscaping company prior to coming to the United States.

He worked as a construction worker for Turner Construction for many years, prior to retirement.

Joe loved people and all the New England Sports teams. He also enjoyed walking and gardening. Mr. Vieira was a member of the Holy Ghost Society at Our Lady of Lourdes Church

He is survived by his children, Rose V. Paquette, and her husband John, and Joseph R. Vieira, both of Taunton; two grandchildren, Jessie A. Vieira and Marissa C. Vieira; two step grandchildren, Nicole Fernandes and Michael Paquette; two great grandchildren, Kaylee and Julieta Rose; three step great grandchildren, Joseph, Adriana, and Miles; and several nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by all his siblings.

His funeral with visitation will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 8:00 am, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, in Annunciation of the Lord Church, 31 First Street, Taunton. Interment will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dementia Society of America, P. O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901 in Joseph’s memory would be appreciated.
