Josephine Corrao

Josephine (Micale) Corrao, age 99 of Senoia, Georgia, formerly of Raynham MA, passed away on August 11, 2026 with her loving Son by her side.

She was the wife of the late Michael Corrao who was the founder and owner of Norwell Manufacturing based in Taunton.

Born in Boston, MA she was the daughter of the late John and Camila (Saia) Micale.

She worked for her mother in the family's Italian grocery store since she was a child. The grocery store building was eventually leveled to build the prior Boston Garden facility. She met her husband Michael Corrao after he returned home from WWII, they were married just 6 months later. They started Norwell Manufacturing Company in the basement of her husband’s grandparents home on Norwell Street in Dorchester, MA. It was then moved to a bowling alley in Dorchester, and eventually they moved the business to Broadway in Taunton and moved their family to Raynham in 1950.

She helped raise money through baking and yard sales to help build the first Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Church, in Raynham in the 1960s. As the lighting business grew, they built a second manufacturing facility on County Street in East Taunton in the late 1970s, across from the new casino, and finally a third manufacturing plant in Alabama. Her husband, Michael Corrao, passed away unexpectedly in February of 1985. They were married for 38 years and she had talked about him every day with friends and family ever since. She was a member of the Red Hatters, Raynham Sociable Seniors and various other Raynham and Taunton clubs and organizations.

She is survived by her son, Paul J. Corrao, 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Michael J. Corrao of East Taunton, Kenneth P. Corrao of Taunton, grandmother to the late Heather Giordano and Kristin Corrao of Taunton. She was the sister of the late Dominic Spinalle, Sara Amara, Rose Troese, Santo Spinalle, Vera Gervais and Sonny Micale.

Josephine’s funeral with visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 9am with a funeral service to begin at 11am in the chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton.

Interment at Pleasant Street Cemetery, Raynham.
