Joyce E. (Avellar) Fernandez, age 79 of Taunton, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on May 15, 2021.
She was the former wife of the late Manuel Fernandez.
Joyce was born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Augusto and Mary (Lima) Graca, and Step Daughter of the late Antonio Graca.
Before retiring, Mrs. Fernandez was employed as a secretary for various local companies. She was a 1959 graduate of Taunton High School. Joyce was a loving and caring person who was devoted to her family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her son, Keith A. Fernandez and his wife Laurie, and her daughter Taryn A. Fernandez, all who reside in North Dighton. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren Kennedee Fernandez-Penha, Tristan Fernandez-Penha, Ava Fernandez, Sofia Fernandez and Mia Fernandez, and her beloved niece Toni Graca. She is the sister of Alan Avellar of Taunton, Gary Graca of East Taunton, Randall Avellar of Taunton, Jacqueline Graca of FL, Beverly Avellar of VA and Doreen Graca of Taunton. She was also the sister of the late Victor Avellar. Joyce also leaves many cherished nieces and nephews.
Joyce’s funeral will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 7:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in Saint Anthony Church School Street in Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held in the Silva Funeral Home on Thursday, May 20th from 4 to 7pm. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
During all services, facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
