Joyce E. Murray, age 64 of Taunton passed away on December 31, 2021 at Mass General Hospital.
Born in Raynham, she was the beloved daughter of Arthur Murray, Sr., and the late Betty (Green) Murray.
Joyce worked as a nurse for the Commonwealth of Mass for over thirty years. She was very dedicated to all the residents of her group home, who were very deeply loved as her family.She was known for her laid-back demeanor, her calming presence, and her funny sense of humor. Joyce was cherished as a beloved Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Great Aunt, Friend, Cousin and Nurse. She had a great love for animals and enjoyed time spent with family and friends, the ocean, shopping, traveling, music, games, crafts, researching ancestry and breakfast dates. By far, the proudest day in her life was 29 years ago, when she became a mother; which was a dream she had always wished to fulfill.
Joyce is survived by her loving daughters, Jillian Brewer of Taunton and Samantha Brewer of Kingston. Her Siblings; Arthur Murray, Jr., and his wife, Lisa of North Dighton, Allen Murray and William Murray of Taunton, Sandra Sevigny and her husband, Joseph and Kathleen Moniz and her husband, John, all of East Taunton. Her niece; Kathryn Sevigny, Her nephews; Daniel Sevigny, Michael Moniz, Matthew Moniz. Her Great Nephews; Christian Moniz, Henry Moniz, Caspian Moniz. Her Great Nieces; Dahlia Moniz, Eliana Backstrom and her many cousins, both locally and across the country. And her feline son; Peaches Brewer-Murray.
Joyce was surrounded with an enormous amount of family love, strength and support during her fourteen month battle with kidney cancer. She fought a courageous battle and never gave up hope.
We extend our gratitude to Dr. Richard Lee and her medical team at Mass General who fought beside her to the very end. We pray that during our lifetime, a cure will be found for this type of cancer; to honor Joyce’s hard work and perseverance; as well as the many who fought beside her.
Rest in peace Joyce, safely back in Mom’s arms.
A Celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at a later date.
