Kathleen E. Dube, 41, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 23, 2021, following a valiant six-year battle with cancer.
She was the wife of Nathan Dube, with whom she shared 16 years of marriage, and was mother to her beloved daughters, Tessa and Kyra Dube. In addition, Katie is survived by her mother, Jacqueline (Bernier) Stapleton of Fall River, MA, brother Ryan T. Stapleton and his wife Debora of Medway, MA, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was also the daughter of the late Thomas J. Stapleton and sister to the late Alison J. Stapleton.
Katie was drawn to the arts at a young age, particularly dance and music. Dance began with the former Dance Center in Fall River, several performances of the Nutcracker with the Dance Prism based in Concord, MA and throughout her high school years with the Durfee Theater Company. She played flute & piccolo in the Durfee Marching Band, the Swansea Community Band and in the 215th Army Band of the Massachusetts National Guard. More recently, Katie’s creative energy was focused on designing and creating jewelry and she had recently fallen in love with knitting. It brought Katie tremendous joy to see her daughters develop similar passions. Like her mother, Tess is a dancer and musician, while Kyra shares her mother's love of, and skill for, creative projects.
A graduate of Durfee High School in 1997, Katie went on achieve a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Bridgewater State University in 2003 and an Associate’s Degree in Healthcare Information from Bristol Community College in 2012. She also served with the National Guard/Reserve for 15 years as a Specialist. Katie worked many years in the medical support and pharmacy fields. Most recently, she was part of the Meditech team in Fall River as an Applications Specialist, a company where she felt like part of a family.
Throughout her courageous battle with cancer, Katie remained focused on what she held dearest, those she loved - her husband, her daughters, family and her large circle of friends. She gave more than she received, spoke up for those who couldn’t, supported anyone in need, created joy wherever she went, and in ALL the right ways - she had no filter. Katie will be missed by everyone who knew her and will truly never be forgotten.
Following her cremation, relatives and friends are invited to gather for a memorial service on Saturday May 1, 2021 at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton from 1-3pm, followed by a Prayer Service and Military Honors at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, or a charity of your choosing.
