Leona G. (Pelletier) Camara

TAUNTON - Leona G. (Pelletier) Camara, wife of August V. Camara, died unexpectedly at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on December 8, 2010.
She was 69.
Born in Taunton, and a lifelong resident, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Genevieve (Tabak) Pelletier.
Mrs. Camara was a loyal employee of Morton Hospital & Medical Center where she worked for over thirty-six years, retiring several months ago.
In 2008, she received the hospital's Employee of the Year Award.
A devoted communicant of St. Mary's Church, she served as Eucharistic Minister and was a recipient of the Marian Medal for her years of dedication and service.
For many years, she volunteered at Our Lady of La Salette Shrine, and enjoyed many trips and retreats with her friends.
Leona was a deeply religious and faithful woman who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Besides her husband of Taunton, she leaves a son, Steven A. Camara, Sr. and his wife Theresa of Worcester; five brothers, Francis "Babe" Pelletier and his wife Jemma, Robert Pelletier and his wife Elizabeth, Frederick and Joseph Pelletier, all of Taunton, and Edward Pelletier and his wife Elsie of FL; two sisters, Genevieve Costa and her husband Carlos of Stoughton, and Catherine Gouveia and her husband Robert of Taunton; her only grandchild, Steven A. Camara Jr. of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Monday Dec. 13th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary's Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday Dec. 12th from 4 to 7 p.m.
