TAUNTON - A private graveside ceremony at St. Joseph Cemetery was observed Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in remembrance of Mrs. Lorraine A. (Silvia) Amaral.
A lifelong resident of Taunton, she died Saturday morning, March 10, 2012 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston after an extended illness.
Mrs. Amaral was 73.
Wife of the late Joseph S. Amaral, to whom she was married for more than 30 years prior to his death in 1991, she was the daughter of the late Genevieve A. (Osenkowski) Silvia and Roger W. Silvia.
Mrs. Amaral worked in retail management at The Dress Barn in Raynham for a number of years prior to her retirement.
Previously, she was employed for more than a decade by New York Lace Store in downtown Taunton.
A graduate of Taunton High School, she was an avid collector of recipes and enjoyed baking for family, colleagues and friends during her retirement years, especially the holidays.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl A. Amaral of Taunton; two sons, Joseph S. Amaral Jr. of Taunton and Richard C. Amaral of Florida; her brother, Lawrence J. Silvia and his wife, Dolores M., of Taunton; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Mrs. Amaral's wishes, funeral services were private.
