Lorraine Chappell

Lorraine M. (Moniz) Chappell, age 86, of Taunton, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at her home in Taunton. She was the devoted wife to the late Paul S. Chappell, Sr., who passed away in 2003.

Born in Dighton, she came from a large family as she was one of 12 children born to the late Manuel and Edna C. (Correia) Moniz.

For many years, Lorraine worked as a Gold Stamper for Ad-A-Day located in the Weir section of Taunton. She was well liked for her tremendous work ethic and kindness to others. Lorraine was also a “Babysitter Extraordinaire” as she had a love for all children, and she took great care of all who she had the pleasure of looking after.

In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Wanting to help others, Lorraine would donate her pieces of knitted blankets & scarfs to others less fortunate. She was also an avid camper, spending many seasons camping with her family in Westport. Above all, Lorraine was most happy with the time spent and memories made with her family.

Lorraine is survived by her four devoted children: Loretta Chappell, Cynthia Morin and her husband Denis, Paul Chappell, and Richard Chappell and his companion Nicole; her six cherished grandchildren: Jillian, John, Joshua, Jeremy, Jeffrey, and Jenna; her 10 great-grandchildren; Addison, Harper, Reese, Shyann, Marcellus, Lukah, Lydia, Javian, Selena & Mikey, her siblings: Eugene Moniz, Charles Moniz, Nancy Jones, Sandra BAYLIES, John Moniz, and Bruce Moniz; and also countless nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lorraine is preceded in passing by her siblings: Dorothy Menice, Edna Mae Antunes, Maureen Hebert, Richard Moniz, and Manuel Moniz, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of Lorraine’s soul will be held on Monday , July 15, 2024, at 11:30am at Holy Family Parish, 372 Middleboro Ave., East Taunton. Relatives and friends may meet directly at church at 11:15am.
